But, da*, a change of wind brought down the thunderous clouds which had been hovering near tho hills, and to tho accompaniment of thunder peal and flashing lightning, the sports ground speedily became reduced to a. condition emted only for tho gambols of ducks or fro©?, and the children's sports, as also th\> young men's eporte, had reluctantly to be abandoned. Tho children's toys were then distributed bj» ticket on the Christmas tree principle, every child in the dietrict participating. Tho tables were then eot for tea, and by tho timo that was over the iveatl»r had improved considerably, and ihe Sports AesocLation were able to get off a few events on the road, including:—Boys' Handicap, lOQyds, which resulted A. Doig.l, G. Jamison 2; Girls' Handicap, Joyce Elliott 1, A'ice Clarko 2, and Ladies' Raco (12 entries) won by Mies Alice MoMnllen. Great interest centred in tlie Bicycle Bead Raco to Chertsey and back, a distance of about 13 miles. There were 11 starters, the race being won by R. ELapjKjr, with S. Wilson second, while made fastest time (41min 40sec), a very good performance considering tho heavy etato of the roads. The school prizes were then presented by Mr T. Doig, chairman of the committee, and Miae G. O. Smith, mistress, who leaves the school this iveek, was presented with a travelling bag suitably •inscribed, and a greenstone and gold brooch, by Mr Jos. Allen, on bebalt of the parents and children. After the usual fcpeeches and votes of thanks to all assisting, the room was cleared for dancing which was kept up with,spirit until the "wee sma' oors," excellent music being supplied by Mr W. Syine.
