The annual meeting of the Qiristchurch branch of the Women's Christian, Temperance Union was held on Wednesday, when officers were elected es follows :—President, Mrs H. Cole;' reooiding eecretary, lilrs \\Tickei corresponding secretary, Mre Day; treasurer, Sirs W. H. Seed; vice-president, Slesda»«ta iMcDonaid, T. N. Griffin, S. Lawry. J. Guy, L. M. Isitt, W. Keady, J. - Field, W. S. Smith, and Mies Roberts; superintendents of departmeetings, Mrs A. C. Newton; work among young people, Mufc W. Smith; literature, Mrs Allan; legal and Parliamentary, Mrs T. E. Taylor; purity, Mrs JVhitcombe, .scientific temperftgnoe . instruction, Mise Roherte, visitors to Jubilee Borne, Mrs Pedler, Mrs Marks, and Mre Thompeon ; representativee of Union on Children's Aid Committee, Meisdames J. Field, T. Ballanityne, and Gordon; Press 'work. Mrs K. W. Sheppard, Ma Roberts, and Mrs Cole. It was resolved--' 'That this Uiiion desiree to place on record ite gratitude to Almighty God for the success accorded to the cause of;-reform throughout New Zealand by the largely increased vote cast for No-lipense-at the last Local Option. Poll," It was decided to send a telegram of congratulation to the Rev. l< , . W. Isitt on the successful vote cast for No-licenso in the colony. THe balance-sheet for the temperanoe booth on the Show Grou nd was read by.the treasurer, K> ln spiteof tie unfavourable weather • the Uiiion cleared all expenses and had a sufficdent cum dn hand to pay off its indebtedness.
