THE BURWOOD TRAM.
TO THE EDITOR OF "THB PRESS." Sir, —In a recant issue of your paper it is reported that the City and guburImui tram line is in a very bad stato It is but fair to the present proprietorship to cay tliat it lias been very much improved of late, botih as regards permanent way aiMi services. # Gangs of men ere busy laying new rails, land has been acquired to improvo dangerous curves, and both guards and drivers have been put into uniforms which will compare favourably with any service in New Zealand. A much-felt want lias also recently been granted, viz., a late tram on Thursdays, which will enable playgoers to ccc the finish of any entertainment in comfort. No amount of pressure on the lato management could bring about this much-desired concession. It is evident whether the Tramway Board takes this line over or not, the residents along the line of route will havo little cause to grumble after the present management has had a fair chance to show what it can do .in the way of catering for the travelling public.—Yours, etc., BURWOOD RESIDENT.
