THE PREMIER'S CANDIDATURE.
ENTHUSIASTIC SUPPORTERS. (rKKSS ASSOCIATION TJC__GHA_.) HOKITIKA, December 4. A great pro-Liberal demonstration was lield in the Princess Theatre this evening, the new building being crowded, in support of tho Premier's candidature for Westland. Delegates from North and South were present, and bands volunteered and paraded the town prior to the gathering, which was very enthusiastic. A large number of ladies were present. Tho Mayor of Hokitika moved:—"That this meeting of representatives of the Westland constituency resolves that the Right Hon. It. J. fcieddon, P.C., is a fit and proper person to represent tho district in Parliament, and takes pleasure in congratulating the Right Hon. gentleman on his long record of past public services, unparalleled in the legislative history of the colony, and further wishes him a con-, tihuance of office, to guide the Liberal Party in that broad policy of beneficent legislation, which has so uplifted the people, and given New Zealand the assured and --flourishing pro-penty-W) generally enjoyed. '. , <- , The chairman of the Westland County seconded the motion and congratulated the Mayor of Hokitika on convening such. a meeting, vihich was in every way a compliment to the Premier. Ho expressed the hope that tho constituency would give their member a record majority for the colony. The Mayor of Jtoss warmly supported tho motion, which was carried with acclamation. Cheers for the Liberal Party, for Mr Seddon and Captain Seddon concluded the proceedings.
