THE INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION.
REVIEW OF PROGRESS.
The official report of progress in connection with the Exhibition states that n well-attended meeting of the Duncdin Local Advisory Committee was hold during the week. Hie Mayor was appointed permanent chairman, and Messrs T. W. Whitson and J. Hazkrtt vice-chairmen. An honorary secretary and a. working executive were also appointed. The entire committee will meet monthly. The Mayor suggested that there should bo an Otago early history court in tho Exhibition, which mijrht w taken in hand by,the Otago Early Settlers' Association. The New Zealand Shipping Company will erect in the Exhibition their rewiit at the Naval and Fisheries Exhibition at Larl's Court. London, fer which they were awarded a diploma and a gold mtdal. This exhibit takes the form of a wet ion of the saloon aocommodaticn provided by that company's direct passenger steamers between "New Zealand and London. Mr J. Van der Steer writing tinder chic, Amsterdam October 14th last, advises that ho am certain other Dutch gentlemen propos to make a Holland section special ex hibit, for tho, purpose of lllustratin; tho ceramic and silversmiths' art of tha country. Tenders for the construction o the Exhibition art gallery were re ceived en the 2-tth ult. The lowest ten dor. besides being irregnlar, was with drawn, and the architects' estimate wa exceeded to such an extent that it wa decided to recast the plans and specifica lion*, with tho object of calling for fre.=l tf-nclors with as little delay as possible The Government has expressed its wil lingness, under certain conditions, t< offer assistance to the extent of £100( to the Canterbury A. and P. Associa tion. to rjiable it to organise a New Zealand International A." and P. Show to ba hold on its own grounds at Addmgfon. on their regular dates in th< year 1906. Caraei-oai (Jcveniment Produce Commissioner at London, rocontlv visited the Liege Exhibition in the interests of tho New Zealr:nd Exhibition. Mr Cameran interviowod a larco number of foreign firms •md circulated Exhibition literature, •translated and printed in French, especially for the benefit of Continental exhibitors. At Brussels. Mr Cameron interviewed a. permanent .committee, which has l>een specially appointed to represDnt Tielcmn manufacturers at all foivipn Exhibition-. The president osKiirrd Mr Cameron that the New Zealand Exhibition will hnve immediate and favourable consideration. A number of Continental exhibitors who have arranged to exhibit at Milan waited upon Mr Canirtron, and requested him to ascertain if it were possible to arrange to havo tho. tmio of receiving; their exhibits extended to the end of November. Such extension would enable those firms to transfer their exhibite from flic Afilan Exhibition, which oJosrs at t3<e end of October, 190(5, to the Now Zealand Exhibition.
