NAVY LEAGUE.
The committee of tho Canterbury branch of the Navy League met yesterday afternoon. Dr. E. Lcvingo was in tho chair. The principal business consisted of tho consideration of the accounts in connection, -with tiho recent Trafalgar Centenary celebrations. The total liabilities in connection therewith incurred by the League amounted to £114 2ts 3d. Theeo accounts wero passed for payment as soon as funds camo in. Correspondence was received from tho Girls' High School and from tho Canterbury College women students asking for affiLiation to tho branch as 6tibbranches. Tho letters were received, and it was resolved to invite applicants to fiend representatives to tho committee meetings. Tho eecretarv of the League wrote enclosing copy of a circular letter issued by the Omca of Works at Westminster in regard to the completion and improvement of Trafalgar square. A letter was received from tho Fire Brigade protesting against the decision of tho judges in tho recent tug-of-war in Hagloy Park. Tho secretary reported that the judges had not been able to alter their decision. Tho matter was left to Mr Meares to deal with. In regard to Navy League wall maps for schools a letter was received suggesting that theLeague tshoukl approach the Board of Education on tho matter. It was resolved to do *o. A list of forty-two member.* of tho Canterbury 'Collego Girls' Navy Loaguo branch was received from MissMarjorio Turnbull. The following are the names of the provisional committee: —The. Mi-se-s M. Williamson. N. Howell, E. Griffin, XI. Barker, tho Merars K. C. Williams, A. S. Bean D. Fergueon, and A. E. Flower (of Christ's College). On tho motion of Professor Hafclam, the following members were elected:—Rev. Canon Hare, Rev. A .H. Norris, Professors Blunt, Cook, and Wall.
