A STONE-LAYING FUNCTION. United Press A-_ocia_ion—®y Electrio Telegraph—Copyright. (Received November 14th, 10.24 p.m.) BOMBAY, November 14. The Prince of Wales laid the foundation stone of the Alexandra Dodk, Bombay, to-day. [The laying of the foundation stone of a public museum is also part of the Prince of Wales's Bombay programme. This musoum, to be built in commemoration of the Royal visit, will contain tbe archaeological, artistic, and industrial treasures for which Bombay is famed, and which are now scattered about in various towns of the Presidency. The Bombay Government has given £22,500 towards this project, and a similar sum has been sikb_or_b-d by Mr Currimbhoy Ibrahim, a leading merchant. Another Bombay resident, Mr David Bassoon, has given £7509 for the erection in that city of a statue of her Royal Highness. At the end of September a London paper said of the tour:—"The ceremonies will resemble the wonderful receptions accorded to the Kings of the Hindu and Mahometan period, more than modern pageants. The Prince of Wales will be a great liguro, but all the resources at India's oommand will be given to making the visit a tour of triumph for the Princess, for it is the first time in history that the Heir-Apparent to the Throne has visited India in the company of India's future Empress. In her honour, native ladies of the highest rank, who have never before left the sacred precincts of the zenana, will come out to give hor a personal welcome."]
