The No«rCommissioned Officers' Club will hold their first] smoke concert; in their- new olttb rooms this* evening, when a largo gathering is expected. Tho annual meeting of the £ Battery was held in the orderly'room oh Tuesday, when there was a large attendance of members. Captain Treleaven occupied the chair, Lieutenants Duncan and Stead being present. , The balance-sheet was read, showing a credit balance of £106 10s. In reviewing the work, Captain Treleaven pointed out that under the now system every action of the Battery while ins camp would count towards efficiency points, and Tiot only the Service practice as heretofore. He urged a full. attendance, as the points would be averaged, and ho wanted to sco the E Battery on top. With regard to the regular work, while there were at present, few facilities for perfecting themselves in the general work of the battery, the membars might study many of the moro vital points which,would make the work easier when the time came to put them into practice. The following committees were elected for the year:—Finance, the officers, Ser-geant-Major Lezard and Q.M.-Sergeant Lee; General, Sergoan* Childe, Sergeant Johnston,- Sergeant Feast, Far-rier-Sergeant Stokes, Corporal Vincent, and Gunner Comyns; Social Committee) Sergeant Johnston, Sergeant Childe,. Corporal Saunders, Rango-taker Hicks, Gunner Fricker, Gunner Dodd, Drivers A. Moody, W. Moody, J. Thome, C. Hall, and Craig. Tla> Officer Commanding' the distriot will inspect the Amuri Mounted Rifles at present camped a* Waiau to-mor-row, when he will put them through field manoeuvres. •.■.,;■■■•- ■'•»■.' The. South Canterbury Officers' Club will hold their usual monthly meeting in Timaru to-morrow, when the war game will be" continued.
