The schooners Annie Hill, Clyde, and Lily, with cargoes of timber for this port,- are due at any time from Greymouth. The schooner Falcon is also due with a cargo of timber from Havelock. There was a very heavy sea running along the coast yesterday, but the steamer Cygnet •ai.ed at 0.30 a.m. ao-day for Port Robinson and Kaikoura. The Westport Coal Company's steamer Canopus, from Westport, is due hers about one cr two o'clock to-morrow morning. . The steamer Torgauten arrived at 10.30 a.m. yesterday trom Puponga, with* cargo of coal consigned to -Messrs J. Redpath and Son. and waa berthed at No. 5 wharf. Tne vessel will sail to-morrow for Wellington, Kelson, and West Coast Ports. The barque Quathlanrba, with a full cargo of produce under hatches, was towed out at half-past three yesterday afternoon to an anchorage off Camp Bay. The vessel will tow to sea at 7 o'clock this morning, when she sails for Auckland. The schooner which anchored in the stream on Wednesday night proved to be the Konga, timber-laden, from Haveiock. The barque Antarea, 779 tons, formerly a well-known trader to New Zealand, has been chartered to load a cargo of guano at Maiden Island for a New Zealand port The New Zealand and African Company advise that the Essex, which is to leave Liverpool on the 11th June for New Zealand, via Australia, will be followed by the Drayton Grange, whioh is to sail on the 11th July. The nest boat will be tha Tyser liner Mimiro, sailing on the 11th August. We are informed that importers may rely upon the vessels of the New Zealand and African fleet sailing from Liverpool regularly on the 11th of each month.

Advice baa been received that the Tyser liner Star of England left New York on May 17th for New Zealand, via Australian ports. The American barque Alice, 819 tons net, for many years a regular trader from New York to New Zealand porta, and which was sold at New York recently, is to be overhanled, and have her rig changed to that of a four-masted schooner. The latest list of ohartera to hand states that the «teamer Tcrie Viken is to load jarrah at West Australia for a port not disclosed. The vcaael is now on her way to New Zealand from New York. Private advice received in Sydney states that on the Ist ult. the Board of Enquiry at Manila investigated the wreck of the steamer Pbarsall*. The findings of tho Beard were that the ship was navigated in a fieamanlike manner, and that the wreck was the Tesult of faults in the chart. Captain Fcotc was exonerated from all blame. After a long passage of four and a half days the Union Company's steamer Taieri arrived yesterday morning from Greymouth and Westport. The vessel left Greymouth a little after midnight on Friday night, and reached Westport at 7.15 am on Saturday. She completed loading at the latter port, and get

away at 11.30 p.m. Moderate to freeh winds and seas were experienced until after rounding larcwcll Spit. The vessel then met with a strong southerly gale and heavy head aeaa, and at 5.15 p.m. on Sunday she ran in and anchored for shelter behind DUnile Island. She put to sea again at 9.20 p.m.. but d.d not round Stephen's Island umil 2.45 p.m. on Monday. 'ifcc deeply-laden veascl battled against wind and tea throughout the day, but was again compelled to run in for Backer. She brought up in Cockle Bay. Port Gore, at B.JO p.m. on Monday, and remained there until 9.40 a.m. on Wedneaday. By this time the'galo had gene down, and from thence redtrate to light weather was experienced until arrival at Lyttelton at 10.35 a.m. yeaterday. lie Taieri'a cargo consists of 2099 tons of coal and 46,400 feet of timber part of which is for Dunedin, for which port she sails to-day. .
