(srzci—. to "r_E ra_ss.") EEEPTON, May 23. The New Fedderson's dredge narrowly escaped sinking on Saturday. She struck a boulder, which stove in a- plank in her aide below the water level. Some time elapsed before the leakage could be located, the dredge meanwhile filling rapidly with water. The precise spot was at last discovered, the damage repaired, and the dredge bailed out, work being resumed to-day. • _,_,.. The Ulster mine manager reports the drive has been extended 14ft for the week, making a total distance of 22 feet from the wm*e. The stone, which the company is at present driving on is not so good as waa opened out in the main reef. The mine manager reports the level is being driven south on the reef. Un to yesterday 36 feet had been driven on stone. The lode was 2 feet wide, but pinched a little to-day, being now 18 inches wide, showing good gold.
