SPREYDON.
A meeting of the Spreydon Road Board was held on the 4th inst., when all the members vrcro present. The Returning Officer reported that, as Mr. John Brown and Air H. G. Ell, M.H.R., were the only .candidates nominated to fill the vacancies they had been declared members of the Hoard. -Mr John Brown was elected chairman for the current year. A ratepayer interviewed the Board as to their responsibility for maintaining a water course through his property, and it was doeided to ascertain tall particulars relative to the matter, and reportat the nest meeting. It was decided to comply with a request of the Charitable Aid Board to supply information relating to the various casas in the district. The clerk was instructed to sue for all rates unpaid at the end of the month, together with the additional charge of 10 per cent. It was decided to write to the Christchurch City Council, suggesting that a lamp should be fixed at the corner of Jerrold 6treet, on the. city reserve, and three of the members undertook to make an inspection and consider the advisability of erecting one in Simeon street. The meeting was adjourned till the 11th inst., to consider, among other questions, the beet means of disposing of night coil.
