FRANCE'S BREACH OF NEUTRALITY.
JAPANESE INDIGNATION. A SERIOUS SITUATION. (Received May 9th, 1.10 a.m.) LONDON, May 8. "The Times" Tokio "correspondent says that even on the verge of war with Russia the newspapers did not show greater excitement and indignation than now. The soberest declare that France has virtually taken up arms against Japan. References to the Anglo-Japanese alliance _ are assuming a tone of marked impatience, and the papers declare it is England's duty to prevent the interference of third parties. Japan's confidence in French goodwill and pacific purposes is radically shaken. On France will rest the responsibility of carrying matters beyond tho realm of diplomacy. _ue newspapers declare that France has incurred deep discredit for her breach of faith. She has connived flagrantly at a gross violation of neutrality to the great injury of Japan's vital interests.
