RETURN OF BISHOP JULIUS.
After a prolonged absence from his diocese, owing to a breakdown in health, Bishop Julius returns to us today, greatly benefited by the rest and change; indeed, judging from the brief interview which he was good enough to accord onr representative in Wellington, he seems to have quite recovered his old vigour of body, and is apparently aft raoy as ever in thought and expression. He will bo gladdened on his return by the sjght of the finished Cathedral, towards the completion of which he laboured co strenuously untfl his strength failed him. His visit to the Motherland has occurred at a particularly interesting time—a time of quickening religious activities, and of broadening religious thought. His Lordship, we feel sure, returns to us not only refreshed in body, but with a mind stored with new thoughts and new observations. t He has been greatly missed, not only from the ecclesiastical world, but from the social and intellectual life of the diooese, and he will receive a hearty welcome from the citiaens as a whole, who have learned to like him for his unaffectedness and other good qualities, even though many of them/have felt bound to dissent from some of his views on questions more or less political fn their nature. Wβ hope that the Bishop will in future find the cares of his diocese sit more lightly on his" shoulders, and that he will not be tempted by excess of energy to run the risk of a second breakdown in health.
