SPRINGS.

Tho annual mooting of ratepayers of the Springs district was hold on May 4th, Mr J. Wolfe, chairman of tho Board, presiding. Tho total receipts, including balance from th© previous year, were £2331 19s 9d, works expenditure £1157 17s 3d, payment to local bodies (including hospital and charHablo aid rates) £523 3s lOd, suppression of small birds £142; office, salary, and miscellaneous expenses £240 16s lOd, making a total of £2064 Is lld, which left a credit balanco of £207 17s lOd. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of tho report and balance-sheet, invited criticism, but tlie few present expressed themselves satisfied with the work carriod out by the Board, who were accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Tho actions of tho clerk wero approved. ; It. was decided to metal a few chains of HudBon's road on the lake, to.replace two small bridges with concrete pipes, and to arrange for tlio delivery cf 200 yards of metal on to tho main road at Rabbit Island. clerk was directed to sue at once for all outstanding rates. It was decided to warn the ranger to show greater vigilanco in preventing cattle from grazing on tho' roads. .Accounts amounting to £102 6s - 9d wero passed for payment-.
