TEACHERS' SALARIES.
TO TITE EDITOR OF THE PRESS. . Sir,—Of late attention has very properly bean drawn to the inadequacy of teachers' salaries. While agreeing that tho Parliament should vote more money for this purpose, I should like to point out that Education Boards might practically make their money go further by placing teachers in localities suited to them when practicable. To some teachers it would be equal to a considerable increase of salary to live where they could prosecute certain studies; to others it would be worth from twenty to forty pounds a year to bo near their friends
It is not pretended that every teacher can be considered in this way, but tliero aro cases where the Board, without spending an extra penny, might largely increase the value of teachers' pay.—Yours, etc.,
