Mr Justice Phillimore, of the King's Bench, in deciding that the Do Beers Company was resident within th" United Kingdom for the purpose of income tax, declared that his view of colonial incorporation should be recognised as the incorporation in every Court of the Empire. The judgment affects the profits of the diamond mines during the financial year of 1901. The, assessment was £1.r>57.000. involving tho payment of ,C77.8f>9. The company appeals against the decision. (Received April 19th. 9.40 p.m.) LONDON, April 19. Tho Hon. A. Lyttelton, replying to representations made by the Royal Colonial Institute, said the question of the duplication of the income tax on colonial investments would receive most careful attention.
