(srsciaL TO "THB JTMCSS.") WELLINGTON, April 17. In pursuance of the work begun on the West Coast of the South Island by Dr. Bell, the newly appointed Government Geologist, the Mines Department intends to despatch reconnaissance and detail work parties to other parts of the colony, including Waihi, in the Auckland district, the interior of Otago, the Nelson district, and the Uriwera country. Dr. Bell, who is now in Westland, intends to go to the head of Browning Pass and camp there for two months.. He is accompanied by Mr C. E. Adams, topographer of the party, Mr Fraser, assistant geologist, and five bushmen. The work on the West Coast may occupy twelve months. Dr.
