(Received February 26th, 4.56 p.m.) ROME, February 25. M. Ruchet, the Swiss president, and King Victor Emanuel have exchanged greetings over the successful piercing of the Simplon tunnel early yesterday. Cheers for-Italy and Switzerland were given in the Italian Parliament. [The Simplon tunnel has Been near-; ing completion for some time, but towards the end of last year the hot springs encountered formed such an obstacle, that it was thought by some that, after all, the work might never be completed. The length is just over twelve miles.]
