THE GOVERNMENT DEFEATED. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. PAlllgj January 11. M. Paul Doumer, Deputy for Aisnu, and ex-Governor of Indo-China, who is en opponent of M. Combes, has been elected President of the Chamber by a majority of 25 over M. Brisson. M. Doumer's victory is due to the votes of dissident Radicals, Nationalist?, and Royalists, and is attributed to the dissatisfaction at the delation in the army, the denunciation of the Concordat, and the income tax. LONDON. January 11. The "Daily News" says that M. Doumer may look forward to the Pr»miership. The result is something liko a victory for the- Nationalists.
