Mr Macdonald. on behalf of the British Labour Representation Committee, has written to Senator Stewart, of Queensland, expressing hearty pleasure that tho Commonwealth Labour Party has taken no action in connection with preferential trndo, which is receiving altaost unanimous opposition from the organised 4abour of the Mother Land. He hoped for a continuance of the cordial relations botween tho two parties and suggested an occasional conference to enable .them to agree on matters of Imperial policy. ' Mr Macdonald has also written to Mr Watson, expressing tho hope that whenover tho peoples decision in regard to preferential trade is known, the Labour Parties of all the self-governing colonies may work harmoniously on all Imperial questions with the representations of organised labour in the Mother Land. [Senator Stewart recently wrote Mr Macdonald pointing out that Mr Watson, in expressing opinions favourable to Preferential Trade, w,as voicing his own views only, the Australian Labour Party not'being committed in any way on tho subject.]
