DARFIELD SALEYARDS COMPANY.
The annual meeting of shareholders in the Darfkld Saleyards Company was Jidtl laeb Friday, Mr H. A. Knight presiding. The report showed Ihat only a moderato entry of stock had been yarded during the past year, the quantities being 44,797 fheep, 57 hon=es, 49 cattle, and iB4 pigfl, •with the usual sundries. The balanceslwet showed the receipts to havo been £155 5s 9d, which, with the balance (£329 2s 7d) carried forward from last year, made the total £484 8s 4d. The expenditure wae £308 12s, leaving a balance to credit of £175 16s 4d. The chairman mainly attributed the increased expenditure to the construction of a sheep dip and yards during the year. The directors recommended that tlio usual dividend of 10 per cent, bo declared on the capital, that a bonus of £5 be paid the secretary and yardman respectively, and that the balance be expended on general repairs as required. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The retiring directors, Messra Knight, Jarman, an J Gillandera were re-elected. Mr J. Gough, who had been one of the directors wnce the formation of the Company seventeen years ago, wished to retire, and did not 'offer himself for re-election. He was accorded a hearty vot« of thanks for his past services, and Mr John Brown was elected in his place. Messrs R. Reid and D. R. Hutchison were re-appointed auditors. At a subsequent meeting of directors Mr H. A. Knight w*is re-elected chairman.
