NEW ZEALAND AMATEUR -ASSOCIATION.

The annual meeting of tho Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held on Monday at tho Hereford Hotel. Present—Dr. Thomas (in tho chair), M«ots H. S. Balchelor, T. TT. North, F. IT Salter, W. J. Clarke, W. L. King, A. O. Keating, and A. Donaldson (secretary). Tho first annual report covers rather more than a year, and both it and tlio balance-sheet represent tho whole period during which' the centre has been in existence. During that period 114 licences have >l>een irsued, which, in virtue of a rule passed by tho Council, aro good for all time. The balance of assets over liabilities is £1 4s. Tlie report and balancesheet were adopted. The South Canterbury Gub protesting against the action of tho Canterbury Centre in not sending a team to represent Canterbury in the cro«»-country championship. It/ ivas decided to advise the >South Canterbury Club that every possible effort had been made to obtain a team, but without success. The following officers were' elected: — President, Dr. Thomas; vice-president*, Mr T. TT. North; hon. auditor, Mr P. Hoare; hon. «cretary and treasurer, Mr A. Donaldson; delegates to the Council, "Mcbots A. H. (vice-president), C. T. Aschman. and H. %S. Batchelor. It was resolved to *end a. letter to Mr A. Anderson regretting his illness, an J wishing him a speedy restoration to health.

At a meeting of the Committee of th* Lyttelton Club, held on Friday night, it was decided to hold an athletic sports gathering on tho Officers' Point Recreation Ground on Tuesday, January 3rd. A special committee was appointed to draw up a programme nnd make the necessary arrangements.
