Mrs Page, a member of tho Boar 1 of Advice for Burnham School, gave an account of a visit oho had paid to that institution. The 4>ecrctary read copie.i of letters she hoi sent to various Councils regarding the election of women to the Charitable- Aid and Hospital Boards. A letter was received from Mr T. E. Taylor. M.H.R., in reply to ono from the secretary with regard to the salaries of tlio attendants at Sunnyside Asylum. It was decided that Mr Tpylor should bo again written to on the subject. . A letter was also received, pointing out Mrs H. A. Atkinson's qualificatioiw for a seat on th* Charitable Aid Board. Mr Johnston, organising secretary of the Social Education League, wrote, inviting the Institute to send delegates to' a meeting to discuss the land question. It was decided to send delegates, and the president and secretary were appointed. Tho following resolutions wero carried:—"That this Institute earnestly urges the Government to proceed with the lo:ig-promised nmendment of the election of members of tbe Charitable Aid and Hospital Boards being carried out by tlio popular voice of, the people;" ''that the Institute is of opinion that a clause containing the principle of preferential voting embodied in Mr McNab'a Bill should heincluded in tho electoral Act now before the House;" "that the Institute views with interest and pleasure tlie suggestion brought forward by the Mayor at the City Council in favour of municipal housing. It strongly urges the Councillors to support this movement." The secretary was instructed to forward a copy of the last resolution to the City Council, and copies of the two former resolutions to tho Premier and Canterbury members of Parliament
