♦ ST. ALBANS CLUB. The opening of the seaton in connection with the St. Albam Bowling Club took place on Saturday afternoon. The weather wa,n btautifiilify fine,_aiid there was a large gathering of visitors, including a.number of ladies and l-epreeentatives of the. Christchurch, Canterburj', and Sydenham Cluba. The tennis courts, and ■ croquet .grounds •were well patronised. Mr J. T. Mcßride, the President, of the club, in. declaring the season open, congratulated the members on the progress the <#ub had made, and also on the admirable condition of the grounds. The membership of the chib was. rapidly increasing, and before .long he' expected to eeo it the premier one in Canterbury in thia respect. 'Six rinks were'then formed to play the opening match, President v Vice-President, which resulted m a win for. the formei* by 29 points, the scores being, President) 130, Vice-President 111.
