ANOTHER MEMBER'S VIEWS.

Another member of the- Board of Governore, when asked for his opinion on tho proposal, did nofc consider that the Government would administer tho reserves to any better advantage than the Board of Governors, for the Board was partly composed of practical farmers and experts in land values, who would be ablo to assess the values of the reserves quite as well as onv Government officer. With a Parliamentary grant the Board would not only bo subjected to the control of the Department, but would be .unable to secure a corresponding benefit from the increase in values of its reserves. Tlw Canterbury College Board had provided more scholarships than any other Board, and had done, their be*t in the interests of the general higher education of the ■province.
