P: Hugonin. j On the motion of the chairman, the committee placed on record tlie great loss sustained by the Association by tho death ' of Mr D. McMillan, ft former president, and ; a member of the committee of the Asso- i ciation. Members signified their assent to ' the motion by standing. } Dr. Levinge was reappointed the Association*s representative on the board of ■ directors of the Canterbury Hall Com- i pany. ' I Accounts amounting to £189 18s 5d were ! passed for payment. ! Mr W. .Seth Smith, Nzapara, wrote asking the Association to includo a new class- at the November (-"how for largd black Devon pigs. It was decided to suggest that- Mr Smith should enter tlio pijs for exhibition only, tho customary practice when a new breed is introduced. A list of the judges recommended for the November Show -was submitted and approved, and reported as under -upon matters connected with the November Show: — The Sheep Committee recommended (1) Tjiiafc the following bo added to the regulations: "If judges aro in doubt as to thci age of any-sheep, the owner may be asked to furnis-h a certificate as to date of lambing." (2) That the classes for Merino ewe above 16 months with lamb at foot! bo cut out of tho fine and efcrong combing sections. (3) That a new class be inserted iv the strong and fine combing Merino sections for imported Merino ram, smh mm not to be eligible for champions-hip. (4) That in tho Coiriedalo fcction the present class for "Earn over 16 months" rltould read "Ram above 28 months," and n new class bo added for "Ram above 15 months and under 28 months." The report was adopted, and the Committee was recommended (1) To introduce a class for fivo Corriedalo flock rams. (2) To add now classes to the' Corriedale and half-bred sections for rains (shorn) above. 16 months, and for rams (shorn) under 16 mouths; in I both ca»?8 the rams to he shorn after October Ist, and (3) To consider the question of liaving the lambs for freezing purposes weighed prior to being placed be- j fore tho judge-s. j The Cattle Committee recommended (1) That the amount of money prize .given with the Challenge Shkld be reduced from £10 to £5. (2) That in place of the section for Shorthorns, the property of fanners not owning mom than £00 acres, which ha 3 been struck out, tlie following clajtse* be added, for "Shorthorns, the property of farmers who have not previously taken a first prize at the Metropolitan Show:—(a) Bull, of any age; first, ■prize £3, second £1 10.*. (b) Cow, o.*, any age, in milk; first prize £3, second ] £1 10.«. (c) Heifer, calved suree Slut December, 1903; first prize £2, second £1. The recommendation of the Tig Committee that the prize schedule for the November Show stand as for last year, no alteration being made, was agreed to. Tho Hon* Committee recommended that all horses entered in classes where measurement is specified bo measured before entering the judging ring; and that the following regulations be inserted in the cata-

logue: —(a). The .. reason given for disapproving of JTo. 1 was : that the .arrangement would be uneatis-. ; factory to both judges and exhibitors. It ! was decided to refer this matter back to j tl» committee. Regarding 2To. 2, the reaf son for duapproval was that in view of the t number of entire ponies the committee : could not recommend «ny further additions to the pony classes. The committee further reported that in view of the difficulty iof obtaining suitable horses and'providing ■ spaco for proper judging , , it was desirable to discontinue the young farmers' judging competition in. the" hone classe*. They wished exprpwly to guard themselves being thought to disapprove of the** competitions in other oWj»w. The recommendations of the Dairy Produce and New Zealand Xlanufacturea. Committee were- agreed to 'a» follows:—(1) That in tho classes for chocs* one class Hiould be for white chetse, the other coloured, the date of manufacture in all for cheese not to he rpocificd. The following are the revised clan**: (a) Clveefe (white), nob Uta than 56111> in one or more chwwrs; farmers only-; firrt prize £2, wcond £1. (b) Cheese (coloured), not less than 56!b in one or more cheeses; farmers only; first prize- £2, second £1.
