With regard to the Christchurch technical classes, grants had from time to time been made in aid of tho rent of temporary premi'ies for the accommodation of the classes, and for necessary furniture, fittings, and .apparatus. It had been recognised that the rapid increase, both in the number of classes and in the number on the rolls of tho classes, rendered the provision of permanent 'buildings a matter cf considerable urgency, and ample provision had beeu made for the work.
