■ * ■ ' Messrs X Jurift* and J. W. I.cc, J.P.'s. presided at the Police Court yesterday. DRUNKENNESS. Upon charge- of drunkenmas, seven first offenders were fined ss, and two 10s each. Herman Weidner wne fined £1, and James Bruce 109. Thomas Richards, -who was charged with being an habitual drunkard, and with having entered two hotels during tbe currency of a prohibition order against him, was remanded for a day. INDECENCY. Charleys Henry Geige Mas sentenced t<> seven- 'days* imprisonment for committing an indecent act in High street on Saturday. A STOLEN RUG. Mary Joyce admitted a charge of stealing a rug at Sydenham on March 16th. Chief-Detective Chrystall stated that the woman, had taken the rug from an hotel, and had offered it for sale at two different pawnshops. After inspecting the woman's list, the Bench imposed a sentence of three months' imprisonment. ALLEGED ENTERING AND THEFT. James Henderson was charged with having, between March 21st and April 2nd, 1904, broken and entered the warehouse of Robert Pitcaithly, and stolen three cases of port wine, seven bottles of invalid portwine, two bottka of whisky, 40lb of tea, eleven boxes of cigars, of a total value of £14 13s 6d. Upon the application of the police, the accused was remanded for a week. Bail was allowed, accused m £25, and two sureties in £25 each. ALLEGED ASSAULT AND ROBBERY. Michael O'Brien and Hugh Riley were alleged to have assaulted James Armstrong on April 19th, and robbed him of £30 and a revolver. Detective Chrystall stated that a third man, implicated in the affair, had been remanded till Friday, and he would aak that the two accused should be remanded to that day. The men objected to Friday, stating that they wanted their case heard before a stipendiary magistrate. The remand was, however, granted as applied for by the police. An application tor bail was allowed; the amounts being fixed at each accused in £50, together with two sureties in £25 each, or one in £50.
