LINWOOD v OLD BOYS.

•This match was played on the eastern ground at Lancaster Park. Linwood had much tlie better, of the afternoon's play, eventually winning by 26 points (2 goals from tries, a goal from a mark, and 4 tries), to nil. Old Boys (Whites) kicked off, and almost immediately were in trouble, owing to a fumble by Pratt, their full-back, who forced down. Guthrie relieved with a run to the centre, but the Linwood (Green) forwards, headed by Shanks, Halliday and Corbet*, returned to the goal line, the first-named scoring a try in a good position, fjorbett added tho major points. From the kick-off C Koskella made a strong run to the White* twenty-five, being well collared by Red- j path when looking dangerous. A markv secured by Walker, was enhanced by Gorbett, the Greens at this period over- , running their opponents by loose forward j rushes. Byrne (2)",* and Lawrence, put ] in, some sound defensive work, and several marks and free kicks by way of penalties - gave further relief, but Evans and Corbett dribbled over the line, the latter scoring in a good position. Corbett, Newton and Mahoney headed a return rush, which was well stopip<>d by Gray, who kicked out at mid-field. Linwood then attacked, and a quick ■'pass from Smith gave C.
