Tlie anniversary of the Baring Square Weskyan Church. Ashburton, was celebrated by a social gathering on Thursday evening, at which the Rev. A. Peters presided, and addresses were given by the Revs. T. J. Waliis and J. Gay. Tho bal-ance-sheet showed an increase of £791 with an expenditure of £788 lis sd. The annual presentation of prizes of St. John's Church, Winchester, took place oa Thursday. Tlie Rev. J. M. Adcock distributed the prises, and complimented the Superintendent (Miss Moore) and the teachers on the efficiency of their scholars. The prize list is:—Grade VI. (Miss Moore) —Maggie Harte I, Bessie Philp 2; Grade V. (Miss N. Opie)—Louisa, Young and Alice Barrett equal 1, Henry Davey 3; Grade IV. (Miss Philp)—Nellie Louden 1, Chas. Davey 2; Grade 111. (Miss Harte)— Stan. Davey 1, Rose Cripps 2. Cyril Da Renzy 3: Grade 11. (Miss Boston)— Lily Hitrte 1, Alice Louden 2, Louisa Louden 3 ; Grade I. (Miss De Renxy)—Doris De Renzy 1, Harold Young 2, Arthur Young 3. Infants were also given prizes. A gift aa»> tion of farm produce was held, and £10----was taken. Blaekwell was received with regret, he having held the position over twenty rears. Mr Superintendent Hnvman was appointed m his stead. Fireman T. Wright was elected secretary. Tlie accounts showed a balance of about £9 in hand. Tlie Winchester Mechanics* Institute held their annual meeting on April 16th. Mr D.,McCaskill was in the chair. The report showed a credit balance of £12 with outstanding accounts of £3. Messrs A. W. Ensor, L. Ensor, Jas. Paterson, J. P .Kalaugher, and S. J. Hitchins were appointed a Committee, of which Mr A. W Ensor was elected Chairman, and Mr A H Crosbie secretary. A Sub-Committee wa.-» appointed to select new books to be got on approval. ° The Winchester Morris Tube Club at| its annual meeting elected Mr C. Opie captain and Mr J. Paterson secretary and treasurer. Messrs J. Mclnnes. R. "Webster, W. Boston, G. Taylor, and J. Cripps were elected a Committee. The season ended with a credit balance of 16s. A large number of Endeayourers attended, and'a pleasant meeting was held, presided over by the Rev. k. &. Gray, president of the Union.
