AGRICULTURAL SECTION.

In the section of agriculture, Mr J. A. Gilruth Chief Veterinarian, read a paper on "The Toxic Effects of Ragwort," in which he gave the history of the disease known as the "Winton Disease, and caused by feeding on ragwort or senecio jacobea. Hβ detailed the series of experiments by means of which he had traced the disease to this plant. Cattle and home which were fed on the plant for a prolonged period, all in time exhibited evidence of the disease, and on post mortem examination showed the usual symptoms.
