SWIMMING.

A meeting of the committee of the East Christchurch Swimming Club was held on Friday evening, a full committee being present. Several new members were elected. Correspondence was received from Mr J. P. Drake, enclosing clseque as a donation to the dub, for which he was tendered a vote of tlianks. It was resolved to ewim. the final distance of the " Calvert" Junior Handicap on Wednesday, January 20th, entries to close on previous Monday. The programme for the annual carnival, to be held on February 13th, was then considered, and it was resolved to place before the Canterbury Centre, for their approval, amongst other items/ two inter-Ciub events, a 78yds for those who are handicapped to do better than 38sec for 50yds, and a 52yds for those who are handicapped to do from 58seo (inclusive) to 45seo (inclusive), for 50yde. The total prize money on the programme is £15 6s. A meeting of the committee of the Richmond Amateur Swimming Club was held on Wednesday evening. Present—Messrs W. Cr. Strange (in the chair), S. Ardley, H. Dillon, E. Eldridge, S, L. Wright, and B. Miles. Three new members were elected. A very entertaining programme for the Club's carnival, to be held on February 6th, was drafted, and officials for the same were appointed. It was decided to charge 6d for admission to the bath, on, that day.
