ANGLING NOTES.
The Sehryn is in excellent condition for fishing, and during the past three or four days good sport has been obtained. On Friday Messrs R. Moffatt and Duff got sixteen fine fish, their total weight being 811bs. On Saturday Mr J. McNeill landed seven fish, the total weight being 331-s, and Mr A. ffwanston landed six. the total weight of which waa 311bu. These catches were made near the mouth of the river. Between the huts and Kimber's hut the river is in places not jjjkdiable, owing to the weed, buf from Kim§er*s hut to the mouth good sport is obt_n_ble. A telegram received at the local agency of the Tourist Departmenton Saturday gave tbe following information to angler*:"—Waitaki, river in good order for fishing; Rangitata, river vi excellent order; Rakaia, river in gool order for fishing. Arrangements are being made with tbe Post Office to have forwarded to the Tourist Department telegrams from the Bealey, giving information-regarding the weather and its effect on the Waimakariri. By this means it is hoped that anglers will be in possession of information as to the possibilities of floods earlier than by telegrams from Kaiapoi.
