The Waikare, on amval at Auckland trom the South, will tranship her'passengers and careo to the Mararoa and return South. Jane will leave Wellington on December 11th for Sydney direct to enable her to take up the Sounds' exewsion in January. t The Shaw, Savill steamer Athenrc is expected to sail from Napier for Lyttelton, going on to Wellington from here, and arriving at Wellington on Monday next. Her departure lor London has been postponed until December 12th. It is understood that the new steamer building for the Huddart-Parker Company is to be called the Australia. If this is correct there will then be three krge steamers *f that name in tho Australian trade, the other two being a P. and O. liner and Lund's Blue Anchor liner now building. The well-known steamer Waikato, 4<67 tons, is en route from Liverpool and Manchester to Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, with general cargo. She is coming out under the auspices of the Gulf Line. The iron barque Doon, 788 tons register, has been chartered to load a cargo of nitrate en the West Coast of South America for Fiji, on behalf of the Colonial Su«ar Refinery Co., Ltd. This is probably the first cargo of nitrate that has ever been sent to the Fijian • Group. Arringementa have now been completed by Messrs Levin and Co., litd., o£ Wellington, for another steamer to run, in conjunction with the a.s. Wakatu. in a bi-weekly service to tbu Hays and Asoroa, and to Cheviot and K:iikoura. Messrs Kinsey, bams and Co., tho local agents, aro advised that it is proposed to start the new service early in December. The additional steamer will be the Kennedy, at present trading between Wellington and Nelson under the Anchor Line Flag. She is twin-screw and larger than the Wakatu, but of lighter draft, and therefore more suitable for working the U*ys. , „ ,
