THURSDAY CUP COMPETITION.
Tiie match, Papanui versus Butchers, was commenced at Lancaster Park yesterday, and at call of time Papanui had considerably the best of the day's play, the score© being. Papanui 406, and Butchers have lost three wickets for 51. For Papanui G. Homer made 132, Jenkins 62. Prichard 60. J. Homer 46. Wilson 52, J. Homer 31, and T. Smith 12. For the Butchers, A. Horwell made 14, Butler 10, and Ash ton 20, not, out.. Gray, for Butchers, took four wickets, and W. King three.
The Vice-President's match between the Second Elevens of the above Schools was begun on the College ground, when an even day's cricket resulted. Scores: — High School, 87 (Davey 24, Chamberlain 15, and Currie 10) and 26 for no wicket (Davey 11 not out, and Currie 14 not out); College, 92 (Griffin 50 and Tipping 26.) Tipping and Pries-t bowled well for the College, and Davey for the School.
