Mr and Mrs A- Burt (Dunedin), Mr W. Wooller, Mr H. Drummond, Mr P. Q. Hay (Melbourne), and Mr Geo. Neale arrived in town last night.
Mr A. E. Kernot, Mr H. B. Scott, Mr A. A. Corrigan, Mr E. Witheford, and Mr Geo. Bayley left for the North yesterday afternoon.
Mr A. W. Rutherford, M.H.R., and Mr Mr D. Buddo, M.H.R., went North by yesterday morning's train. Bishop Julius returned from Amberley yesterdar morning. The Hon. H. Gourlev, Hon. W. M. Bolt, Mr H. D. Bedford, M.H.R., Mr T: Mackenzie, M.H.R., and Mr. Mackenzie, Mr and Mrs W. Strange, Mr and Mrs Macfarlane (Wellington), Mr S. Wolf (Dunedin), Mr A. F. Rattrav, Mr T. E. Upton, and Mr T. H. and Dr. Will left for the South by tlie express yesterday morning. Mr James Allen, M.H.R., left for Little River yesterday morning. Mr and Mrs T. E. Tothill left for Wellington last night. " Mr Meßae Peacock (Swannanoa) is in town. Messrs C. Lewis and T. E. Taylor, M.H.R.'s, returned to Christchurch from Wellington yesterday. A cable message received from Sydney yesterday stated tlwt among the Monowai's passengers for New Zealand are Mr Morris Fox, actuary of the New Zealand Insurance Department, and Mrs Fox. Miss Midlane, of Wellington, and Miss Bray, Sydney, are at present on a visit to Christchurch.
Messrs Fell and Hogan, two Australian etation-holdens, are at present in New Zealand en route for the Argentine and England. » Miss C. D. Humphreys, daughter of Mr Geo. Humphreys, and Mr Charlewood, are expected to arrive here early next month. They reached Australia by the P. and 0. s.e. China".
Miss Ada Crossley will'arrive from tho South by the slow train to-day, reaching Christchurch at 6.25 p.m., and will be present at the performance of "Barbara Freitchie," at the Theatre, by the Daniel Frawley Company.
