He understood that the Railway Department' did not differentiate between High Schools and District High Schools »nd had refused to issue free passes. . Mr Adams, referring to the application °bv the Woolstou Committee, raid that under present circumstances the Appointments Committee did not consider that the Department would grant the application, and they had felt that there were other districts in* the neighbourhood of this city equally entitled to the conversion of their schools.
On the motion of Mr Opie it was decided to ascertain from the Railway Department if free passes would be granted to pupils desirous of attending the Lyttelton District High School.
