ROAD BOARDS.

At a meeting of the Courtenay Road Board. Messrs <'. Rudd (chairman). G. Watson, G. Bedford, G. Sandrey, and R. Johnson were present. A copy of a special order was r_ceiv«-.l from the Selwyn County Council authorising the Board to levy a rate of l-24th of a. penny iv the £ under the Birds Nuisance- Act. It w_s decided t-o purchase a road grader, and to ascertain whether Messrs Cooper and Duncan can give a trial of their grader within tiiree week-!. Mr Walter Johnson was granted permission to construct, a water-race crossing on the Telegraph road. Mr 0. Bull interviewed th-. Board with reference to his work in connection with repairs. A general rate of one halfpenny in the £ to include email birds and Hospital and Charitable Aid was ordered to be h-vied. A number of gorso notices were ordered to be issued. Account* amounting to £122 8s 4d war* p_s.-d for payment.
