NOTES AND MEMORANDA.

The fourth lecture of the course on "The Development of Architecture" will be given by Mr S. Hurst-Seager, A.R.1.8.A., at Canterbury College. The subject will bo "Gothic Art," illustrated by mediaival Cathedra-! 'of "Europe. The annual meeting of the Christchurch Liedertafel will be held at Hobbs's Assembly Rooms on Friday evening next, at 8 o'clock. The annual general meeting of the shareholders in Wane, Hockley and Co., Limited, will be held at the offices on Friday, August 7th, at 12.30. The polling for the election of a member of the Woolston Borough Council takes place to-day. The candidates are Messrs J. Milne and J. Scott. Tho half-yearly meeting of the Sydenham and Suburban Money Club will be held at the Weskyan Schoolroom, Sydenham, this evening. An ordinary meeting of the Tramway Board will "be held to-morrow, at 4 p.m.

The Lyttelton Club will hold a social on September 3rd instead of the annual ball. A proposal to hold a bazaar at the NewYear to raise funds for improvements to the Club, has not been agreed to. Permission has been received from the Colonial Secretary to hold an art union in connection with the Christchurch Garrison Bazaar, to be held in March next.
