METHODIST MISSION.
The anniversary festival of tho Christchurch Methodist iMii<aion "was continued at tho Church in Durham street wrath last evening, W'hftn a public tea and mooting was held. Both were very largely attended. The Rev. R. J. Murray, who h in charge of tho mission, presided, and witfh him on t&o platform were the Rev. W. Baumber, the Rev. W. lα*. Mr T. E. Taylor, M.n.R., the Church officer?, and the members of the choir. The annual report showed that 4 he mission had Qiad a very xucoeesful year, and all its institutions, the Sunday School, the Christian Endeavour Society, and the Band of Hop*, were making good progress. The Rev. W. Lee dptivered an addrww on tlie advancemrnt of Christianity, combating th« theory that Christianity wne not aclvancing, and Showing how its progress could be secured and maintained. Mr T. K. Taylor epoke of the value of fiie Bible, urging upon the audiencp tbo neewsity of making use of H, and especially of training their children to bocomo worthy eitiwnw. The Rev. W. Baumber ako addrcesed the meeting, congratulating.the congregation on tho «ruo cp*s ,-vthtined by the Church during the Y*ft year, and expressing a hope that the Ohnrch would t«ntinue to prosper in its work. During the evening the Church choir .«anp an anthem, the orchestra played 'ft Belection, and a number of songs and inetrumental solos were given by menibei* of the congregation.
