In consequence ol this th« Minister* Northern programme has bad to be cancelled, and Sir Joseph Ward notified his Excellency the. Governor of the fact yesterday afternoon. With regard to the accident, it appears that Mr C~ril Ward, who is a student at Lincoln College, was on Tuesday morning climbing a porthway, when a portion of the masonry became detached, and he fell with it, a* distance of about twenty-five foot, to the groucd. Had tbs stone fallen on his oooV'Mr Ward would undoubtedly have been killed outright, but though he managed to escape this, the block fell on the calf of his leg, smashing it very badly, but most happily not injuring the bone, otherwise amputation would have been unj avoidable. As it was, thirty-eight stitches i had to be put in the injured leg, and six Jin a wound on the other foot, near the instep. Sir Joseph Ward wont to Lincoln early yestr-rday, and remained some hours at the* College." Dr. Cook, who is attending Mr Ward, says the symptoms are co far favourable, and the patient is proereesing aa satisfactory as could be expected. Last night Mr Ward was still doing well.
