THE TRAMWAY LOAN.

. TO THE EDITOR OF TUB TRESS. Sir, —It would appear that by some people the passing of the tramways loan is looked upon as a foregone conclusion. It will not surprise me if tho result proves to the contrary. I fancy mo-fc people thought when a loan of a quarter of a million was first mooted, that such a large sum of money would at least give a network of electric trams penetrating every part of this scattered district. Now it turns out thai it will merely serve to convert a portion of the present lines into electricity, and this is too big a mouthful for me at one bite. If the trams were going to come within, *>a-y, 300 yards of my corner I would risk the Tate to meet the insyita-ble loss and vote for tha loan, but as it .is I *hall not. benefit a copper, and though I would like to see an improved tram system, I. am not well enough off or philanthropic enough to pay a rate with my eyes open r-o th:vb another chap may get a twopenny r;''.'.■ >■■■; a. penny.—Yours, etc., DISAPPOINTED.
