NOTES AND MEMORANDA.
The new Clarendon Hotel, under the proprietorship of Mrs Reid, late of Ohavannes' Hotel, Wanganui, and Mr Flewellyn, Ute of the Sliip Hotel, Nelson, is now open. The Christchurch Hounds wEI meet at the Kirwee Hotel to-morrow, at 11.30 a.m.
A trial of Vorbach's patent potato digger will take place to-morrow, from 2.30 p.m., in the paddock adjoining Nairn's nursery, Lincoln road. The regular monthly meeting of the St. Augustine 'Lodge, No. 4, will bo held in the St. Augustine Hall to-ndght at seven o'dock. A tea mooting will be held to-night in connection with the opening of the new schoolroom tit the East Belt Methodist Church. Addresses will be given by Reve. \V. G. Parsonson and R. S. Gray. A tea meeting in connection with the anniversary of the North Belt Presbyterfein Church will be held to-night. There will be an after meeting,- at whicfli a programme of sacred music will be given.
The medical superintendent of the Sunnyside Asylum wishes to tliank all thoso who from time to time have kindly contributed illustrated papers, periodicals, and other literature for the use of the patients, and to remind tihem and all those sympathetically disposed that the winter evenings are now approaching, when any similar giite will be gratefully appreciated. Dr. Levinge feels smv> that many houeehoWers have much disused material of the above character lying waste and in the way wfliich would be very acceptable at Sunnyside. Messrs Simpson and Williams have kindly consented to receive any parcels of books, etc., left there for the asylum. A meeting is to be held in the Mayfield Library this evening to consider the formation of a Mayfield division of the Aehburton Mounted Rifles. The members of the New Zealand Soldiery' Graves' Guild 'beg to draw the attention of all those who-are generous enough to wish to subscribe to the fund to the fact that they are closing their subscription lists at the end of May, and therefore would be glad to have subscriptions paid in as soon as possible, either to the hon. treasurer, Mrs G. E. Way, care of Messrs Jameson and Anderson, or to the president, Mrs Wardrop, Union Bank.
