SAN FRANCISCO, April 13.
The disbanding of Jesuits in France is being ma.de difficult and even dangerousA despatch from Paris, dated April Kiys: —" The Very Rev. Dr. John Zahm, of Notre Dame, Indiana, Provincial of the Holy Cross of the United States, lias arrived here after visiting the Order in France, which is among those ordered to disband. The Rev. Father Zahm was seen at the Academy of the Holy Cross liere, which ie the second largest in France. The place showed signs of confusion and disorder. Following the notification to dispense, packers were hastily filling trunke and taking down the paintings of the founders, and other valuables, some of which will be shipped to the United States." Dr. Zahm spoke more in pity than in bitterness. H>- said: —"This and the other Academies represented the life work of those who had been ordered to disband. The effect would be particularly severe on the old men and pistera of the formal order*. They retain only their personal belongings, and lose the schools and propertied and buildings, and hereafter will he unable to wear the habit of the Order, and continue work ns a member of the congregation. Those able to travel will go to the United States, Iridic, nml Canada."' As a result of Dr. Zahin's visit, one hundred brothers and priests, and the fiinic number of sisters, are going to the United States, and about the same number to Canada. He says most of them speak French and German, and will be distributed among the Colleges and will teach. _
