CIVIL CASES. Mr R. Be*thain, S.M., presided at tue Magistrate's Court yesterday. JuJjimt'iits went by default in the cases of Adams &mr Cycle" Company (Mr Hunt) v J. V. Sineock," £6 ss, and the same v J. Avers. £1 se. C. "E. Fislwr (Mr Beattie) v E. J. M. Mead, claim for £10, being half the commission on the sale of a property which the plaintiff sold to the defendant. Judgment for the plaintiff for £3 10s. Thomas Davis (Mr Russell) v John W. Smith and others (Mr Beattie), claim for £22 10s. of which £15 9e 6d had been, paid. Mr Ruseeil stated that the plaintiff had been employed by a member of the committee of tVw* Sydenham Working Men's Club to erect swinging doors, but no arrangements were made as to the cost. The work was done by a competent joiner in the very best manner, at a fair price. His Worship gave, judgment for £22 & Bd. Adams Star Cycle Company (Mr Hunt) v W. Fox. claim for £20 19s 3d. The claim was for the price of a bicycle which it was alleged had been purchased on the time payment system, and also for repairs. The case was adjourned until June Ist. Richard Sharpe (Mr Byrne) v J. W. Mason (Mr Russell), claim for £10 15s, money alleged to be held by the defendant on behalf of a third party, who bad given
an order on his salary for the amount. The defendant contended he had no right to retain tbe amount, as he had received no authority to pay it. Judgment was for the defendant with costs.
