LINWOOD v. NATIVE RIFLES. A rifle match was tired at Redcliffs on Saturday between teams from the Linwood and Canterbury Native Rifles, the former winning. Sergeant Chamberlain made the highest" score (49 out of a possible 56), and Captain Oakes made the highest range score (26 out of a possible 28). Following are the seocres : — Linwood—Sergeant Chamberlain 49, Private >". W. Pavitt 48, Lanc-e-Corporal Mouldey 43, Private A. Cooper 48, LanceCorporal Lindsay 46, Private Savage 46, Corporal Tr-leaveii 43, 'Private Wade 42, Private H. Lindsay 37, Bugler Taylor 31, total 458. Canterbury Native Rifles—Colour-Ser-geant Siiepp'ard 48, Captain Oakes 45, Private Woods 45, Lieutenant Smith 42, Private Deny 42, Private Hibberfc42, Private Huston 41. Private Ashton 40, Private Senile 39, Private McMeek 36, total 418. The firing for Major Snow's handsome challenge shield, open to the corps forming the No. 1 North Canterbury Mounted Battalion, took place on Saturday at Cashmere. Tho event was a field firing one, the following corps taking part: — Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry, Canterbury Mounted * Rifles. Waimakariri Mounted Rifles, and Malvern Mounted Rifles. Lieutenant-Colonel Day was umpire in charge. The following was the result: — Wahhakariri Mounted Rifles, No. 1 (Sergt. McLeod), 144 points, 1; Waimakariri Mounted Rifles, No. 2 (Sergt. McLeod), 98 points, 2; O.i'.C. No. 2 (Sergt. Harper), 81 points. 3; C.V.C., No. 1 (SergeantMa jor Rhodes), 66 points; Malvern Mounted Rifles (Sergt.
