SCHOOL ATTENDANCE.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS. Sir—My boy, aged eleven years, was suffering from a very severe influenza cold. Not being ignorant of nursing, I did not call a doctor in. I answered the school note of enquiry as to tho reason of the child's absence, thinking this sufficient. All the »iae I received a summons to appeal- at the Magistrate's Court oi justice (without notice). Now, sir, that was bad enough alone, but to be told a doctor's certificate was required to prove one was not lying. I should like to know who i.s to pay for that certificate—the Mayiatrate, the truant officer, the schoolmaster, or the Government? I should propose a doctor be provided by the Government for this purptxse. —Yours, etc.. JUSTICE.
