WHY MEN DO NOT GO TO CHURCH.

I mentioned in a recent letter, writes the Melbourne correspondent of the "Otago Daily Times," that an interesting newspaper correspondence had been conducted ,on ''Large Families orv Small," suggested by -Prueident Roosevelt's remarks on "Race Suicide." Another sustained correspondence has just concluded—this time on the question, "Why do Men not go to Church?" It has 'been more interesting thmt the last, and lias been contributed to by several clergy men—Anglic.vi and Pntbyterian. Archbiiihop Caxr also took a hand, not by letter, but by an address. The position lie took ,up was that Catholic men did go to 'church. Ono noticeable feature in the correspondence ra the general admission that men did not go to church. Many writers blamed the pareone—that their preaching is too dreajy, thai they don't act in any way as spiritual that if tho men don't go to church they dou't worry, and so on. The pajeons .blamed the men for boincr too wrapped up in the world. A certain proportion of the correspondents took the vknv that men stay ftway because they no lojigM- accept Christianity an true, though this section was not. numerous; but a large, section seemed to hold the viw that orthodox Christianity needs ■broad'eniiig to suit latter day requirement*.
