' A Wellington message says:—lt is understood that the result of the Conference between the Wellington Racing Club Committee and the directors of the Huitt Railway Company to discuss better mean* of conveying passengers to the Hut* racecourse, is that the prospectus of a company, with a capital of .£25,000, will! shortly be issued. Its intention is to purchase the Hutt Railway Company's line end construct bridges *croc» the Hutt River, so as to enable ipassengers to be landed in the vicinity of the grandstand It ie understood that no appeal was lodged against tho decision of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's stewards in disqualifying D. J. Price for foul driving at the club's late meeting, but Price has asked that his case be re-considered. A start will bo made with the South Canterbury Jockey Club's meeting to-day, when a vcrv attractive programme of events will bo got off. Likely winners are: — Maiden Piute. Firebrand and Almanac; Timaru Cup. Lady Lillian. Secret Service next best; Washdvke Trot. John Brown and Thunderbolt; Stewards' Welter Handicap, Narcissus arid Antigone; Flying Handicap; Covenant Maid and Bul&wayo.
