CANDIDATES FOR GREATER CHRISTCHURCH.
Nominations closed at noon yesterday of candidates for the mayoralty and seats on the City Council. Mr Henry F. Wigrani, the retiring Mayor, being the only person nominated for Mayor, has been decared re-elected. For the fourteen seats on the City Council thirty candidates have been nominated. Sorensen, and *J. M. Taylor. SYDENHAM WARD. Messrs J. Butterfield. H. G. Ell, M.H.R., •J. Forrester, *J. Hadfield, W. Jacques, B. P. Manhire, *W. Miller, and *G. W. JParsons. ST. ALBANS WARD. Messrs *F. J. Barlow, *A. F. Carey, *G. Hyde, *A. H. Hobbs, C. Lnfferty, *H. E. Morgan, W. J. Neate, and *W. Newton. LINWOOD WARD. Messrs *W. H. Denton, T. N. Horslcy, *H. J. Otley, and *H. Pearce. The asterisk in front of tbe candidates name indicates that he was a member of the City or Borough Council prior to the amalgamation proposals being ugreed to. The election of six councillors for the central word, four for the Sydenliam ward, and two each for the St. Albans and Linwood wards takes place on Wednesday next, between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. The polling places are: — For the Central Ward—Provincial Council Chambers, St. Michael's Schoolroom, Durham street; St. John's Schoolroom, Madras street; Foresters' Hall, Oxford terrace : Foresters' Hall, Vogel street. Richmond ; Oddfellows* Hall, Lichfield street. For the Sydenham Ward—Borough Council Office. Colombo street, Sydenham ; Oddfellows' Hall, Selwvn street, Sydenham. For the St. Albans Ward—Borough Council Office, St. Albans; St. Matthew's Schoolroom, Edgewure road. For the Linwood Ward —Borough Council Office, Worcester street, Linwood; Social Hall, Church street, Linwood.
